My name is Bjorn Cleophas and I have been working as a Dutch-English freelance translator since 2011. Due to my bilingual high school education I became interested in the English language and culture, which is why I went on to study English Language and Culture and American Studies at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. In 2010 I graduated with distinction and received a Master’s degree in English Language and Culture and a Master’s degree in American Studies. I decided to become a freelance translator, specialising in legal translation. In 2011-2012 I took the Legal Translation in Criminal Cases study program offered by the Association of SIGV Court Interpreters and Legal Translators. I was then sworn in as a translator at the Roermond District Court. As a sworn translator I am authorised to offer certified translations. The study programme Legal Translation, taught by Chris Odijk, allowed me to gain the required subject matter knowledge of other legal areas. As a result, I also offer accurate legal translations.
